Karma Role during Retreats

The karma role (Karmi) is primarily for people who have previously been a participant to at least one retreat. A Karmi is seen as half participant and half assistant. The Karmi will be able to join all sessions, classes and meals, but during the time between, the person takes the role of an assistant of the hosts and the retreat-center.

Who is suited for this role?
The Karma role is a good opportunity to join  a retreat for a greatly reduced price, while also being of service for “others” in their exploration.
The Karmi can choose to stay in silence through the social parts of the retreat, and act as a placeholder and inspiration for the participants.
And most importantly, this role is also a great opportunity to practice Simran (to be in remembrance of truth, in action).

Price: 50% of the standard cost of the retreat.

Details:
The Karma role includes approximately 6h of chores per day

Chores and Responsibilities (shared with hosts and other Karma-roles):

  • Arrival 2h before retreat and departure 2h after the retreat.

  • Helps out with decorations, cleaning, cooking, serving and doing the dishes.

  • Regular tidying of common areas, such as lobby, bathrooms, kitchen and fireplace.

  • Helps out with other chores given by the center, retreats hosts or assistants.
